Kelly Salingue has been a member of the Women of Westland since 2005. During this time, Kelly has made great contributions to the organization. Kelly has been a loyal member and has attended most of the meetings and all of our events. She is always ready and willing to volunteer for any job or event which she showed when she volunteered to step into the position of Vice-President when our vice-president had to step down due to family commitments. Kelly also volunteered to monitor the Woman of Westland website and work directly with our webmaster to ensure that the website is up to date. Kelly was on the ATHENA/Chocolate Fantasy Ball committee and served as decoration chair and also assisted in obtaining donations from local businesses for the silent auction. Kelly’s hard work helped to make this event a success. Kelly co-chaired along with a fellow WOW member, the 50’s Dance with the Reflections. Working closely with her co-chair a great event was created. Dinner, dancing and music were combined to create a memorable time for all. Kelly cares about the success of the Women of Westland – and about her community. She is always promoting WOW throughout the community and other volunteer positions. Kelly was vice-chair for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life Westland 2008 event along with having her own team at the event. For the American Cancer Society she is also a Legislative Ambassador helping to fight for rights of all people and working towards a smoke free Michigan . She also participates in the walk at the Detroit Zoo for the National Kidney Foundation as her father was a recipient of a kidney transplant, doing all of this while working a full time job at Westland Lock & Key and is also an Independent Consultant for PartyLite. Recently she has also joined the City of Westland in becoming green by joining Team Green. She has demonstrated her willingness to contribute time and talent toward strengthening the Women of Westland and is a positive driving force for WOW and numerous organizations. Kelly is a hard working, honest, cheerful addition to our organization and without her, WOW could not have accomplished all that we have.
